Acousia Therapeutics GmbH pursues a dual strategy. The company develops drugs for local application, which will protect hearing function or restore hearing in patients who have lost their hearing ability due to various reasons, e.g. noise trauma, treatment with ototoxic drugs or sudden deafness. To achieve this, Acousia Therapeutics has set up a screen for repositioning of compounds with a cell protective mode of action, e.g. apoptosis inhibition, for both prevention and treatment of acute forms of hearing loss.
