It brings together journalists from across the Middle East, including Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and Turkey. The platform also has daily translations from 20 news organizations in the region. Its content is regularly referenced in The Wall Street Journal, Time, Reuters, Le Monde, The New York Times, The Economist, and many other publications. The Washington Post has called Al Monitor “invaluable,” The Huffington Post referred to it as ''increasingly a daily must-read for insightful commentary on the Middle East”, while The Economist recommended Al-Monitor’s Egypt and Iran coverage in its What To Read section. The platform uncovers trends while covering the news and boasts media partnerships with two dozen regional publications. Al Monitor was launched in 2012 by Jamal Daniel and is based in Washington, D.C.
