Bankia is the name of the entity 100% owned by Banco Financiero y de Ahorros. It is the first Spanish bank domestic business, with total assets of 272,000 million euros and an equity value of 12,000 million euros. The bank was established on December 3, 2010 and began operations on January 1, 2011.
