Mutual & Federal provides insurance services to personal, commercial and corporate clients in South Africa. They became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Old Mutual Group in February 2010 and they are the only short-term insurance company in the Group. They also have operations in Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Nigeria under the Old Mutual brand. They are the oldest short-term insurer in South Africa with a history that dates back over 180 years. Expansion into Africa has become central to their growth strategy. Part of their plan includes steadily increasing their footprint by exploring opportunities in other African countries.
