Arthur Dehon Little

Founder of the consulting company Arthur D. Little, which played key roles in the development of the word processor and much more, Little was an American chemist and chemical engineer born in Boston, Massachusetts, who studied chemistry at MIT from 1881 to 1884. He founded the consulting company Arthur D. Little in 1909 and was instrumental in developing chemical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Little is credited with introducing the term unit operations to chemical engineering and promoting the concept of industrial research.

Arthur D. Little, an international management consulting firm, played key roles in the development of business strategy, operations research, the word processor, the first synthetic penicillin, LexisNexis, and NASDAQ. He served as President of the American Chemical Society from 1912–1914, President of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers in 1919, and President of the Society of Chemical Industry in 1928–1929. In 1931, Little was awarded the Perkin Medal.
