Bio/Description

Developer of the ARIS framework for business process description and modeling, Scheer is recognized as a foundational figure in business informatics. He has served as Professor Emeritus at the University of Saarland, where he made foundational contributions to the field.

Scheer founded IDS Scheer AG, a software company that became internationally recognized for its enterprise process management solutions.

The ARIS (Architecture of Integrated Information Systems) framework established a comprehensive set of methods and tools for business process description and modeling. ARIS went on to become one of the most widely adopted standards for business process management worldwide, and his work in this area is sometimes called the foundation of modern enterprise architecture methodology.

He has also served as Chairman of BITKOM, the German IT Industry Association, playing a prominent role in shaping technology policy and representing the interests of Germany's information technology sector.
