Bio/Description
Leader of the team responsible for establishing and executing the system design of IBM's pSeries and iSeries UNIX product family, Seminaro has served as the Chief Hardware System Architect for IBM's Power Processor Based Server and Storage Product Line and as an IBM Fellow in IBM's Server and Technology Group. He and his team were responsible for establishing and executing the system design of IBM's pSeries and iSeries UNIX product family. In the workplace, Seminaro was involved in the design, development, and manufacturing of traditional mainframe and UNIX servers for over 26 years in both technical and management roles.
His broad and deep skill base enabled him to create overall hardware design in a fashion unique to the industry and led to undisputed product excellence. His technical knowledge extended over the areas of system design, analog design, digital design, control system design, computer engineering, power conversion, cooling design, mechanical design, interconnection engineering, cost engineering, procurement engineering, and manufacturing engineering. Seminaro held a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University in New Jersey and completed graduate work in Electrical Engineering at Syracuse University in New York.
In 2007, he was named an IBM Fellow for his instrumental role in the establishment of a leadership product portfolio for IBM System p, System i, and System z. Seminaro is credited with many industry advances that enabled IBM to maintain leadership in the server industry, especially in the areas of packaging density and power efficiency. He is widely regarded as an industry expert in the area of high-frequency power conversion and has been looked to throughout the IBM Corporation as one of the key architects of future server and storage products.
