Bio/Description

Co-founder of Mostek Corporation, which was instrumental in founding the DRAM market, Cash has had over 35 years of experience building successful businesses in the technology industry. He is one of the most successful investors in semiconductor companies in the world. He has served as a Managing Director at Covera Ventures. He also served as an officer in the US Air Force responsible for monitoring part of the NORAD air defense system. Cash holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, and an M.B.A. from Western Michigan University.

He began his professional career at Texas Instruments in 1964. In 1969, he co-founded Mostek Corporation with L. J. Sevin, Louay E. Sharif and Robert Palmer, where he served as a Director and the Vice President of Marketing until the company was sold in 1981 to United Technologies. Mostek was instrumental in founding the DRAM market and became the early leader of it. Mostek is also credited with the development of ion implantation, a major innovation in semiconductor manufacturing.

Cash has served as a consultant both to Apple Computer on the initial Macintosh project and InteCom, where he helped establish sales and distribution channels. In 1981, he founded ProNet, a paging service company. In 1983, he began his own venture capital partnership, Berry Cash Southwest Partnership, and then joined InterWest Partners, of Menlo Park, California in 1985.

He has served as a Board member of the School of American Research and on the Board of Directors at the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, both of which are located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Cash has focused on investments in information technology, and has served on the Boards of the following public companies: CIENA Corporation (CIEN), Silicon Laboratories (SLAB), First Acceptance Corporation (FAC) and Argo Group International Holdings, Ltd. (AGII). He has also served as Director of the following private technology companies: Javelin Semiconductor and Nuventix.
