Bio/Description

Co-founded Nestar Systems Inc., an early producer of networked client-server computer systems, in 1979. In 1986, Dr. Shustek co-founded Network General Corporation, a manufacturer of network analysis tools, notably "The Sniffer," which later became Network Associates Inc. after merging with McAfee Associates and PGP.

After graduation, Shustek was a Partner at VenCraft, a small "angel financing" venture capital fund. He joined the faculty at Carnegie Mellon University as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science. He taught occasionally as a Consulting Professor at Stanford University.

Dr. Shustek served as Chairman of the board of trustees of The Computer History Museum. He also served as Trustee of Polytechnic University and as Member of the Technical Advisory Board of Tablus Inc.

Shustek held a Master and Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from Stanford University and a Bachelor and Master of Science in Physics from Polytechnic University in Brooklyn, NY. He was the founder of the Computer History Museum of Mountain View, California.
