Bio/Description
Al Shugart started at IBM in 1951 and in 18 years made many key contributions to disk drive development and introductions. Joined Memorex 1n 1969 as VP of product development, then in 1972 started Shugart Associates, leaving in 1974. In 1979 he co-founded Shugart Technology, which later became Seagate Technology, and shipped the first 5.25" disk drive.
