Arkitera is an independent architecture center based in Istanbul. It is dedicated to promoting better architectural practices, enhancing the architectural culture, and raising the quality of architecture in Turkey. All of Arkitera's activities and events are planned based on the needs and capacities of the architecture setting in Turkey. It collaborates with several firms, institutions and universities, and has been assigned to provide the platform for discussing the problems of the architectural environment and the city. Founded on October 9, 2000, Arkitera was awarded the “Contribution to the Architectural Education” prize by the Turkish Freelance Architects Association (Turkiye Serbest Mimarlar Dernegi) in 2004.
