ATERAS is a Dallas-based company providing automated tools and solutions for migrating and modernizing legacy mainframes to much more.

ATERAS is a Dallas-based company providing automated tools and solutions for migrating and modernizing legacy mainframes to the most current IT environment. In the late 1980’s, the company introduced a new software product line that provided additional capabilities to its IDMS clients. Then in the early 1990’s, it began converting IDMS applications and databases to relational technologies such as DB2 and Oracle. It developed toolsets to assist with the labor-intensive, up-front analysis that was required to prepare for any transformation. Throughout the 1990’s, ATERAS performed manual conversions that included re-engineering of client databases and applications, including the ADS or online code and the IDMS DML calls. ATERAS delivers solutions by working through systems integrators and alliance partners in markets including insurance, financial services, healthcare, government, and universities in both domestic and global markets. Since 2006, the focus has been on research and development in order to add to and enhance the automated tools and solutions. The result produced a series of new products from ATERAS, including the Enterprise Field Change Manager for database expansion, the Enterprise Application Viewer for application documentation, eavRPM for rapid program modernization, and the Application Transparency Platform for Natural Re-Host to Windows. ATERAS’ Application Portfolio Management solutions range from comprehensive assessments of existing IT environments, enterprise field expansion, and COBOL and Natural workbenches to automated documentation tools. ATERAS was founded in 1983 by Tom Howard and Cindy Howard. It is headquartered in Dallas, T.X.
