Its main channel, 8.1, carries NBC programming and over six hours a day of local news and local programming. The Live Well Network is broadcast on 8.2, and the Spanish language network, Estrella, is telecast on 8.3. KGW also operates a low-power station, KGWZ. KGW is owned and operated by Sander Operating Company III LLC (D/B/A KGW Television) and is a part of Sander Holdings Company, a limited-liability company which owns three television stations in three markets. The Sander stations receive support services from Gannett Co., Inc. through shared services and similar arrangements. KGW-TV first went on the air in December 1956. It was the first Portland television station to broadcast its local news in full high definition.
