Company Description

UrbanCCD promotes research and creates computational research tools for researchers, government agencies, architectural firms, and more.

UrbanCCD (Urban Center for Computation and Data) promotes research and creates computational research tools for academic researchers, government agencies, architectural firms, private enterprises, and civic volunteers. The center aims to identify, collaborate, and address challenges and opportunities in urban science. It builds and participates in an interdisciplinary community of urban scientists, researchers, policy makers, and citizens. The center provides tools and methods that gather and integrate data from a variety of sources, including databases, scientific simulations, and mobile and fixed sensors. Its research tools include Array of Things (AoT): a network of interactive, modular sensor boxes that collect real-time data on a city’s environment, infrastructure, and activity for research and public use; Plenario: a tool that enables scientists to select a geographic area, determine what data is available about that area, and extract an integrated collection of selected data sets for a particular time period for further analysis; WindyGrid: an internal real-time situational awareness data system; and LakeSim: an open workflow framework designed to integrate city design and configuration tools with computational modeling tools. UrbanCCD has academic and research center partners, federal and foundation partners, and public and industry partners. UrbanCCD is based in Chicago, Illinois.
