It was a platform that had as purpose to provide an authentic insight into what really lives among people in a city, and to make that information available in all other major languages so that the threshold for interaction between people from different countries and cultures would be lowered. Multiple years were invested in the technology required to facilitate a platform that could handle billions of geographically linked data for millions of cities in an efficient way (instantly available to the end user). This required advanced knowledge in website optimization. The city portal did not become a financial success and was closed in 2014. From there the founder started a website optimization business, www.optimalisatie.nl. In the search of achieving the best website performance possible, the websockify technology was discovered.
