For almost 40,000 years, the Australian Aborigines lived in a hot, arid environment. They did not raise crops, so survival was based on ability to hunt. They hunted with boomerangs and spears. To make their spears more effective, they invented the Woomera, or throwing stick, which extended the tool's range and improved its accuracy. Today Woomera Partners' mission statement pays homage to that Aboriginal invention.
