Founded in 2013 by Bhagya Nirmaan with a team of three members, wooroll.com continues to be the largest and the only search engine for jobs in Sri Lanka. Created as a mean to improve job industry in Sri Lanka, wooroll.com has continually claimed to own the largest index for jobs in Sri Lanka. It is designed as a search engine which indexes all the top job portals in Sri Lanka. Wooroll.com has been vocal about bringing equality to the job industry by utilising improved algorithms which scan for words that can be possibly used for discrimination during the hiring process. These signals are used to rank the job search results in a way that mimics other ranking algorithms used by search engines. The server software that powers wooroll.com are running on Google Cloud Platform. Wooroll.com has been running on credit provided by Google for a number of months after its launch. While being a case study for the scalability of Google AppEngine and Cloud Platform at many events, wooroll.com was also ranked the highest scoring submission from Sri Lanka at the Google Cloud Developer Challenge 2013. Wooroll.com belongs to the upcoming category of vertical search engines. The vertical search engines are able to continually improve while retaining advantages of being able to collect and analyse focused information to provide more value to the users than generic search engines.
