X-ZELL is a global biotechnology company specialising in rare cell detection technology. Backed by Y Combinator and various high-profile angel investors from around the globe – among them Gmail creator Paul Buchheit – X-ZELL has found a unique way of isolating and visualizing extremely rare Circulating Endothelial Cells (CEC) in a small 8-10ml blood sample. Until now, CEC were considered impossible to detect in human blood, where their similarities with healthy blood cells render them virtually invisible. With recent research touting CEC as a potential game changer in the fight against cancer, X-ZELL’s technology therefore harbours significant potential for the cancer screening market. X-ZELL’s world-first cancer cell detection method is based on four core modules covering the entire spectrum from blood processing through to cell analysis and reporting – with every step performed in-house using patented and proprietary technology. X-ZELL’s first, organ-specific cancer cell detection test, X-ZELL Prostate, has just gone on sale in Bangkok, Thailand, where the company’s global R&D Hub is based. In 2016, X-ZELL also opened a Silicon Valley Office in Sunnyvale, California.
