While advancement in battery technology has been steady, most of this advancement has been evolutionary in nature, based upon refinement in electrode materials and chemistries, and incremental advances in electrolyte stability. However, even with these advances, today’s commercial batteries still exhibit slow charging, inadequate power, insufficient capacity and poor safety for today’s rapidly growing portable power needs.
