Bio:
I am a journalist and part-time academic, who writes primarily on the arts and international tech culture, from prehistoric origins to Web 2.0. My journalism spans a similar route from hot press and TV to digital film-making and blogging. I am a writer for Wired.com and WiredNews, and Guardian Unlimited, and present on BBC Radio. My work has also appeared in the Sunday Times London) Readymade, New Scientist, and a variety of scholarly publications. I am a former Reuter Journalist Fellow at Oxford, where I studied archaeology and anthropology, and wrote my doctorate on poetic response to the past. I came to computer history through writing Artifacts: an archaeologist's year in Silicon Valley (MIT Press) and I regularly speak at Vintage Computer Festivals. In 2003 I was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries. I am also a practising artist, working in a mix of old and new media.
