Hardware Description

The "PROSET 30" personal work tool from Hitachi was an OA personal computer developed based on a completely new all-in-one concept. It integrated a 32-bit CPU, 20MB hard disk, 3.5-inch floppy disk, 10-inch (640x400 dot) color display, printer and modem into a single body, and allowed users to perform word processing ("Ichitaro VER. 4"), drawing ("Hanako VER. 2"), e-mail, ordinary calling and FAX with a single machine. This was quite revolutionary at the time. The PROSET 30 also achieved an advanced operation environment, with (for example) support for window switching between multiple applications and (as an option) capture of photographs and still images. This machine was completed in 1989.
