White Hat Alliance is a loosely associated ethical hacking group. It originated in 2011 representing a global network of staff working for the company to simultaneously create hacking attacks on its clients. This global brain allows The White Hat Alliance (or White Hat Team) to initiate the type of attacks most commonly associated with large scale black hat attackers. The company is believed to be ran from the United States of America however its company staff are sourced worldwide working virtually to serve clients. The company is known to work with a number of global banking and insurance houses. In 2011 US Bank Merrill Lynch described the group as ‘A trusted partner in our persuade of internal and consumer security in a new digital age’. Clients are believed to engage with the company virtually with most holding their White Hat Team meetings over virtual telephone services such as Skype, Webex, and some via social sites Facebook. Its believed some clients engage with the company solely via Facebook Chat messages, often unheard of for large companies. The company rarely takes work requests and instead approaches its desired clients directly. Staff are recruited via a affinity based referral system by other company staff. Many of its members remains anonymous to each other often referring to each other in coding names.
