Evolution of an Extension Language: A History of Lua, The

Description of Resource:

Abstract. Since its inception, in 1993, the Lua programming language has gone far beyond our most optimistic expectations. In this paper, we describe the trajectory of Lua, from its creation as an in-house language for two specific projects, until Lua 4.0, released in November 2000. We discuss the evolution of some of its concepts and the main landmarks in its implementation.
