Bio:
My name is Theodore Lekkas and I am a second year PhD student at the Graduate Program in the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the National Technical University of Athens. I hold a B.Sc (with Honours) in Philosophy and History of Science from the University of Athens (2000) and a M.A. (with Honours) in Philosophy and History of Science and Technology from the University of Athens and the National Technical University of Athens (2003). I am also an associate partner of the Software for Europe: Constructing Europe through Software project, which aims to carry out a project on the history of software in Europe. Apart from that, I am working as a Technical Writer for major software firms for the last three years. My research focuses on the software localization and the emergence and development of a computer software industry in Greece. My findings come from a close study of Greek magazines of the field (like Computer for All and Ram) and other archival material. My research also seeks to understand how the Greek software industry perceived its contribution to a common European space and how European firms responded to business opportunities in Greece. I am especially interested in the attempts of Greek software firms to develop relationships with European partners and the conception of Europe and various European countries in Greek computing technology exhibitions and fairs.
