Professor David John Parsons

Currently working part-time as a Visiting Professor at the University of Salford - School of Computing Science and Engineering. Initially trained and qualified in Banking. Employed by Barclays for 35 years - initially in banking but moved into IT in early 1960's. Worked on first Barclays computer systems. Became a technical specialist in infrastructure / data communications systems for real time applications. Spent a short while in technical training. Eventually took senior roles as Head of Technical Research, Head of Networks and "retired" early from the role of Advanced Technology Director for the Barclays Group. Have since run my own consultancy, worked externally for European Commission, EPSRC, Britihs Computer Society and various universities. Am active with the UK Computer Conservation Society and regularly lecture on early EMI systems and Burroughs mainframes from the 1960's / 1970's. Currently support Computer Networking and Telecommunications Research.
