Dame Steve Shirley founded F International as a software company initially employing only women based on her vision that software could provide an outlet for the skills and creative ability of housebound women. The company thrived and became a major software house in the UK. Steve Shirley served as President of the British Computer Society, received the award of DBE from the queen for her services and for her charity.
