The Membership Committee is responsible for what it means to belong to the IT History Society. It creates opportunities for members to meet and talk with one another, helps new members find their place, and makes sure membership reflects the Society’s values.
A real person, every time
Every member can reach a human being at ITHS. We do not use bots to answer inquiries or to provide member support.
What the committee does
- Defines membership, including the difference between following us on social media, registering as a member, and supporting us financially.
- Recommends membership tiers and suggested contribution levels, including a free way in and reduced-cost options for students, academics, and others who need them.
- Defines the benefits and recognition that come with each level, such as taking part in events, asking questions at live panels, and acknowledgment on the website.
- Decides how service to ITHS, including committee work, is recognized in a member’s status.
- Creates opportunities for members to meet, talk, and work together, online and in person.
- Designs the ways members can take part, and the welcome journey that introduces new members to them.
- Answers questions from prospective and current members.
- Keeps community expectations clear and serves as the point of contact on membership norms.
More ways to connect
The committee is looking at new ways for members to interact with one another. Today these are the places to find us.
