Mr. Paul Vincent Galvin

He was one of the two founders of telecommunications company Motorola. Founded as Galvin Manufacturing Corporation on September 25, 1928, Motorola is now a leader in communications equipment. He was born in Harvard, Illinois and served as an artillery officer during World War I. Later, he attended Illinois Institute of Technology. During college he was an active member of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. He lived briefly in Marshfield, Wisconsin. His son, Bob Galvin, directed the creation of the Six Sigma quality system when he was running the company. The school library on the Illinois Institute of Technology's main campus is named after him.
